motorcycles, travel, friendship, respect… I may drift off into WTF-land at times so hang in there.

Easy Riding With A Storm In The Middle

Waaay back on November 16, 2012 my daughter persuaded me to start a blog. I have no idea why, but after a little over 12 months worth of posts, I kinda like expressing my views and sharing my experiences with everyone… Yep even you 🙂

When I started posting I had trouble finding something to write about on a regular basis, consequently (wow that’s a big word for me) I missed December completely and only averaged two posts a month for a while. In May, my life took an unexpected left turn, and as a result, May, June and July had only one post – The Neurem Road.

Those three months were probably the most emotionally draining I’ve had to endure for a long, long time, and it took until early August before I could bring myself to post anything again, and that wasn’t anything special.

So What happened?

Well, both my parents, who live interstate, became ill.

I spent May back in the western suburbs of Sydney where I grew up looking after my parents; ferrying them to hospital, specialists, doing the shopping, cooking meals etc. It was my turn to step up, and I was there for as long as they needed or wanted me. I returned home to my family in Brisvegas  by early June, but I couldn’t focus on anything because my mind was always back in Sydney with Mum and Dad.

At the end of June, Dad was admitted to hospital again. This time I  loaded up the car and the whole family headed to Sydney. Dad passed away on July 7th, 2013.

As a result, it wasn’t until September 22 before I posted anything meaningful. I wrote about being remembered, and even though the post was about how bikers remember those that have Ridden On. It gave me an opportunity to refocus and consider those around me.

September 22nd was also the day that I moved my blog from Blogspot to WordPress. I’d been having problems with posts reverting to draft copies or disappearing, so I thought it better to just pull up stumps and move house rather than persevere. I know that I lost a few followers along the way, but I’m certain they saw my “We Have Moved” post; well at least I hope they did!

Moving forward, Experimental Ghost is now on FacePlant, Google+ and Twitter and I hope that these will start to build my audience over time… I just need to get readers to start sharing my posts.

I guess this won’t happen if I don’t post items of interest though, eh?

Over the past year, I’ve posted about lots of stuff, everything from being a parent to stupid laws to, heavens forbid, poetry!.

I hope some of you found what I’ve posted entertaining, or even… enlightening.

Onward and Upwards.
